Yup...this sums it up for Met Fans.
LeSigh!
Well the Yankees are my second favorite team and it will make many members of my family happy.
I just wish I was in the DR with Danny Murphy. Boo hoo hoo!

Winter Ball
Hey there, Hot Legs!
With the Mets season over before it began, I am already dreading the long cold winter with no baseball. The good news is that maybe this will be the year I catch some winter ball. One of my favorite Mets, Danny Murphy will be playing in the Dominican Republic this year! I believe he'll be playing for the Águilas Cibaeñas.
I have always wanted to go to the DR, and the combo of having my Danny Boy there and my lust for more baseball is too much to resist. I can even watch the games in my local restaurants all winter long!
Who wants to come with me?

Fireplug & Porkchop
I like giving player nicknames. I like those nicknames to be inscrutable, wacky and spontaneous. They may not always make sense to anyone but me...but i like to use them over an over again until they just become accepted fact...again accepted fact just to me.
This of course all started with the legendary Porkchop during the spring training trip in aught 7. This year we have seen the reemergence of Danny Boy (Murphy), Junior (J. Reed), Fireplug (O. Santos) and Punk or Punky Brewster (F. Martinez). This young punk Martinez kid really gets on my nerves. He made another dumb base running play, watching baseball insted of playing. I actually called him Soleil Moon Frye for that dumb play. I just wanna smack that smirk off his face. Punk.
With Beltran on the DL, we need him more than ever. And we need boys to start playing clutch baseball and not just be spectators (Punky).
It was a good game and I saw it with some great friends including Jen's Dad! I had corn, brought some ribs home for Pal, a sipped on Rose box wine that I snuck in. I even agreed to become a Braves Fan if Roger McDowell would make all my dreams come true and make me wife #3.
LeSigh...the things I'd do for love.
PS: Justin & Jen- for the record, Tatis is indeed from the Dominican Republic, though I still like to think of him at Ferdinand Tatis, the greatest French Canadian player the Great White North has ever seen! TATiiiiiiiii!

But the Mets prevailed 6-4 against the Cards today thanks to a 4 hit game by Fireplug, Omir Santos. Fireplug won my heart with the look on his face when he hit that amazing 9th inning home run over the Green Monster last month.

Since then he has played his heart out earning his spot and trying to keep his club on a winning track. I love that he looks like a stout little fireplug behind the plate. I don't believe he is 6 ft as the media guide claims! What Joy

Dashing to the All-Star Break!
I didn't know my injuries were contagious...hold it together boys! Look! I am getting better! Playing softball last week I ripped a single, walked twice and scored form 1st base two times! Not bad for the first day back on a bum ankle. I have another game today. The ankle is wrapped, the missing sports bra has been summoned (Thanks roommate!). I think I am ready. Are you, boys? I'd really like to go into the All-Star break in first place.
And I created another Mets Fan! My dear friends Jenn messaged me furiously on the booka di face one night.
Yes, Jenn. Yes I can. I will help you. You have come to the right person.
I immediately put a plan in place. We would attend the May 31st game and run the fabled Mr. Mr. Dash after the game. They would wing a great game, natch. Jenn would carefully parse out information to her son building the suspense until when he finally took the field at the end of the game and high fived Mr. Met, he would be bursting with excitement over being a newborn Mets fan.
Well..it all went according to plan! And then some! The day was beautiful..perfect for baseball. We relaxed in the shade and enjoyed a quick moving game. Liam was outfitted with appropriate gear.

We enjoyed beers, dogs, french fries and tacos in the fan fest area. Liam shunned the t-ball field. "I won't play unless someone actually pitches to me." Whoa! That kid is six! Look out.
The Mets did win..a great quick game! Then it was time for the Mr. Met Dash!
I was a bit nervous when we had to wait in a long line queuing all the way out to Roosevelt Ave. But all worries melted away when we got to go back into the park and onto the field. "We are going on the actual field?!", he exclaimed. "I better tuck my shirt in!"
And once we got on the field, I don't know who was more excited, the grown ups of the kids!
The most amazing moment came when the light rain cleared and a ray of sun came down on Pete Flynn, the lovable Mets Groundskeeper!
I knew Pete was from Leitrim in Ireland and we have Flynns in our family tree so I called out to Pete and got him to come over a talk for a bit about Leitrim! He was nice enough to pose for this picture and not have me arrested for assault when I could not resist planing a big kiss on his cheek before I left. He is in charge of that hallowed ground! At Shea and New Shea! And he is a cousin (maybe)!
It was quite an exciting Day and I was so proud to be present at the birth of another Mats Fan!

WOMAN! I need your help! Liam keeps asking "Mom, do you like the Yankees or the Red Sox?" and I'm like, "the Mets!"...there are no Met fans here (seriously) and honestly I have no idea who replaced Carter, Strawberry, Dykstra and Mookie...so I need Your help...if you are willing! Orange is his favorite color, so I have that edge. Do you have time to educate me on the current team? Can you help me get back into the game? Can you help me teach Liam that there is baseball beyond the Damn Yankees and Red Sox? I can not do this alone!!!!! You are my only hope! Can you help me???

Bruni Gives the win to the Amazin's!
The NY Times this Wednesday gave a nice review to the food at New Shea. He loved the burger, and who doesn't love Shake Shake?! At $5.75 it easily beats the Yankee $9 Johnny Rocket in both taste and value.I had the Shrimp PoBoy this week and while Mr. Bruni tasted nothing but pepper, I felt my sinuses cleared from the whole grain mustard. There was a lot of shrimp, though.
I was disappointed that the Bayside fries with cheese came with that yucky processed cheese Marya used to call "vomit cheese".
I did love the Mexican style corn on the cob smeared with mayo and rolled in a spicy crumbled aged cheese. I think I'll stick to the pulled pork sandwich (bring my own hot sauce),the fries with the smoky bacon dip, and my tacos.
Of course Shake Shake if the line is bearable.
In this Subway Series, the ballparks offer sushi vs. steak tacos. [NY Times]

Baby, We Were Born to Add.
Great game last night at Shea (New Shea? Shea II? ToShea?). Big Boppers all night long. And as long as we score more runs that the opposition, we will win. So keep those hits coming, boys and try not to drop any more easy pop ups! You were giving me more Braves inspired gray hairs!
